Echosounders or Fishfinders offer the mariner an accurate indication of solid objects below the waterline. Basic depthsounders offer a simple reading of depth below the position of the transducer fitted to the boat, where fishfinders display a moving image of the seabed below your boat. Many of the units below will also give other information received from the sensor (transducer) such as water temperature and speed through water. Fishfinders will also show any other objects in the water, including wrecks, obstacles and fish. This last use has given these units their name and many experienced fisherman depend on the information shown on the fishfinder to find their catch.
