Note:Overcoating
times relate to Brush/Roller application. For other antifoulings, not
specifically listed, use the Micron Extra overcoating times. If maximum
overcoating time is exceeded, sand with 180-220 grade wet or dry paper. |
|
|
| Preparation |
STEEL:
Degrease with solvent or Yacht Line Super Cleaner. Gritblast to Sa 2½ -
near white metal surface. If gritblasting is not possible, grind the
metal surface with 24-36 grit abrasive discs to a uniform, clean,
bright metal surface with a 50-75 microns anchor pattern. Use angle
grinder on small areas. ALUMINIUM: Above water::
Degrease with Super Cleaner. Pre-prime using Etch Primer.
Alternatively, abrade with aluminium compatible paper or low pressure
grit blast using aluminium oxide. Below water:: Degrease AND abrade or grit blast. ZINC/GALVANISED STEEL: Thoroughly degrease with Yacht Line Super Cleaner. Pre-prime using Etch Primer. STAINLESS STEEL: Light gritblast to produce a profile of 50 microns prior to applying a thinned coat of Interprotect as a tie coat. LEAD: Rub down with an emery cloth or power wire brush. Degrease with Super Cleaner. Pre-prime using Etch Primer. BARE WOOD:
Sand with 80-280 grade paper. Preserve, if required, with Intertox.
Remove oil from oily woods eg teak, using Thinner No. 9. Change rags
frequently. |
|
|
| Method |
If
filling is required, use appropriate filler after the first coat of
Interprotect has been applied. Before painting, remove any dust with a
dust wipe. Apply the following number of coats: Steel/Aluminium/Alloy -
Above 4, Below 5. Lead - 5, Wood - 3. When used as a tie coat over
Interprime 820: 1 coat. |
|
|
| Hints |
Mixing Stir
or shake individual components thoroughly. Add Curing Agent to the
Base, stir and leave for 10 minutes to allow bubbles to disperse. Thinner YTA061 Thinners No.7 GTA220 Cleaner Use GTA822 for equipment cleaning. Other For maximum performance to be achieved, the curing temperature should be above 10°C/50°F. |
|
|
| Some Important Points |
Do
not use below 5°C. Do not apply over conventional (one-pack) coatings.
Do not apply when there is a chance of condensation forming on the
substrate. Ambient temperature should be minimum 5°C/40°F and maximum
35°C/95°F. Product temperature should be minimum 10°C and maximum 35°C.
Substrate temperature should be minimum 5°C/40°F and maximum 35°C/95°F. |
|
|
| Compatibility/Substrates |
Interprotect
can be used on all suitably prepared substrates and epoxy primers.
Suitable for stainless steel trim tabs and stern drive gear. It should
not be used over any one pack products. Not suitable for use on bronze
or mixed alloy propellers. |
|
|

35°C/95°F. Keep out of direct sunlight. TRANSPORTATION: Interprotect should be kept in securely closed containers during transport and storage.
|
|
|
| Safety |
GENERAL: Read the label safety section for Health and Safety Information, also available from our Technical Help Line.
